OUR APPROACH is one of foresight and achievement
We are interested in:
Living lightly
Since its foundation JPM Parry and Associates Ltd has been actively involved in the development of appropriate - not substitute - technology, which is better suited to a particular area or situation. One of the most successful applications of our technology is the production of building materials in many African and Asian countries. We supply the equipment and training but the materials required are locally sourced. Hence local needs are supported by local people.
The equipment we supply is easy to operate and maintain, with spares and advice provided should equipment suffer rare failure. We adopt an intermediate technology approach which leads to our customers being able to adapt to their circumstances (for example hand-powered equipment when electricity is unavailable). |

Environmental responsibility
We view each problem in a simple - not simplistic - and straightforward manner. To this end the adoption of 'small is beautiful' is utterly logical, and the results are usually of a high environmental value. We have worked towards turning waste of various types into useable products in order to conserve natural resources, and the processes our overseas equipment and products involve produce no unwanted or environmentally degrading waste gases or effluents. Even on the home front, our new concept of a light rail vehicle (now licensed to Parry People Movers Ltd) has realised a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emission for this mode of transport - a development which has not only proved environmentally advantageous but cheaper than existing rail transport!

Responding to energy futures
|
Energy costs are an interest for businesses, politicians and environmentalists alike. So it is a good thing that Parry technology is both energy efficient and low in energy cost. Examples of this can be found in our hand powered crushing machines and vibrating tables. But adaptability also plays a part in reducing energy costs, allowing for whatever energy source is immediately available from the local area. Examples of this can be found in our hybrid technology, such as our multivibe machine which can be electrically or hand powered depending on what is available, and our flywheel powertrain technology which allows for a modern rail vehicle (see Parry People Movers Ltd) to take advantage of regenerative breaking and fuel propulsion coupled with any number of alternative energy sources including hydrogen fuel cells. |

Security and human development
Security is about dignity and self-reliance, and human development is based on learning to be the best that you can be. A stable society requires a useful position for everyone, and this is never more clear than after times of war or plagues when people trained to fight or disabled by disease are left to reintegrate themselves into a wrecked society. To this end we have worked with the Commonwealth Secretariat to provide livelihoods for whoever needs them, preventing ex-combatants turning to banditry and the disabled from begging on the streets, in countries where there is no social security net to catch such casualties.

Quality of life
We have been longstanding supporters of the theory that human happiness consists of more than monetary accumulation, and we have worked towards improving 'quality of life' through our products and practices. Happiness includes emotional and social stability, material possessions, environmental satisfaction, livelihoods (not just having a job) and a sense of purpose and belonging. As a business we sell goods, but we are not without conscience of our actions and consideration of local circumstances. Our methods and our products are designed with thought to improve the customer's quality of life.
